March Madness and Twestival!
by DW on Mar.24, 2010, under Random
March, and the run up to spring, certainly does seem to just bring all things busy and hectic. I completed the development work at the end of February, the first commercial work I have ever done. The final week of February was also filled with my first Graduate Assessment Centre and my birthday (unfortunately, the day before).
Then came my holiday to New York for 2 weeks, which was meant to be totally relaxing. I’m sure it would’ve been if I hadn’t received both the news I hadn’t got the job after the first assessment centre, and then an invitation to a second Graduate Assessment Centre! This meant preparing a presentation while still on holiday, but it wasn’t all bad. New York was amazing, as was Digital Overload! I’d heard about CTRL+ALT+DELETE‘s annual gaming party before, and really glad I got to go. Hanging out with real Americans, fellow geeks and gamers, away from the tourist traps, was refreshing, something that’s encouraging me to go back next year!

Twitter Cocktails for Reading Twestival!
Now back from holiday, and it’s that time of year again. No, not Easter (yet), but Twestival! It’s been 6 months since Reading’s last Twestival, and this time I became part of the organising team. This has lead to a very busy week, lot’s of phone calls and running around to get everything ready, even tasting our custom cocktails! But it will all be worth it, at the last Twestival I met some great new people, got to hang out with friends, all in the name of charity.
If you’re interested in Twestival, getting the chance to meet and hang out with some great people from Reading’s tech scene, and benefit the charity Concern, come to the Ivory Lounge, from 19:30 on Thursday 25th March. There’s more to do than you’d expect to find at a bar. We’ve got Rock Band and Guitar Hero for gaming, Pic ‘n Mix sweets, a Spotify Jukebox and 3 custom cocktails to make your evening more interesting!
